The release of Mario Kart Live had absolute *chef's kiss* timing. Think back to October 2020: the month we officially accepted that our dreams of a normal Halloween were not coming true. As our search for ways to stay busy inside the house grew more dire, another dream came true: turning your home into a legit Mario Kart track.

The game comes with gates to set up around your house, staging your own design with physical limits as to where your physical Luigi action figure can drive (like under the table or around the cat's litter box). On Luigi's head sits a camera that enables the AR part of the game and puts you in the driver's seat.

You'll play on your Switch just as you would with regular Mario Kart — and just like regular Mario Kart, things like coins, item boxes, and other players will show up on the screen. Hitting a speed boost in the game makes your kart speed up IRL.
